Riihimäen Teatteri

An elegant and warm-hearted audience favorite full of entertaining repertoire, but also more serious artistic content. The theater, located literally in the lobby of our hotel, produces its own productions as well as popular guest performances. Many shows have been sold out and the house is full of atmosphere on theater nights!

The theater was founded in 1946, but a fatal fire in 1976 completely destroyed the theater building. Today, the theater operates again at the same location on Hämeenaukio, and the only object that survived the fire, the black piano, can be seen in the theater lobby.

Did you know that we are the only one in Finland where you can take the elevator directly from the hotel room to the theater? Handy especially in bad weather.

In the fall of 2026, we will bring something new to the audience together: a restaurant theater (shows are in Finnish only).

Glass studio Mafka & Alakoski

Guided glassblowing in Riihimäki – unique in Finland

Glass studio and gallery Mafka & Alakoski operates in the premises of a former glass factory in Riihimäki. The glass studio produces mouth-blown art and utility glass. How would designing and blowing your own glass object sound? There are not many places in Finland where you can experience this traditional craftsmanship. Combine the activity as part of your company’s or community’s well-being or strategy day!

In an experiential glassblowing event a glassblowing demonstration is offered, in addition to which participants get to design and blow their own unique glass object. After cooling for about a day, the glassware will be signed and will remain for the participants as a memory of the evening. It is possible to bring your own snacks to the event or order catering from Teatterihotelli to be delivered to the studio.

Lasistudio Mafka & Alakoski designs and manufactures customized business gifts and custom work for companies, communities and private customers.

Glass artist, glassblower Marja Hepo-aho and master glassblower Kari Alakoski are able to produce both unique works and small series products. Interior elements and spatial artworks are also made to order.

Rollagga Escape Room

Rollagga, operating in Riihimäki, has earned a lot of fame in the lists of the best escape games in Finland. Their games regularly feature in prestigious enthusiast polls and international comparisons.

Rollagga’s English-language escape game Amerikaano Xpress Saga is the first Finnish game to reach the Terpeca final (by far the most prestigious award in the escape game industry, which includes all the world’s best English-language escape games), and the game was also voted to the top of Finland’s ranked playlist.

So it can be proven that Rollagga has Finland’s best escape game and the world’s top game builders.

Tanssilava Riutta

Riutta is a legendary outdoor dance stage in Riihimäki. There has been dancing on the stage since 1959. The old stage has been renovated and brought back to life in 2026 respecting the old spirit of the dance stage.

Great artists, great milieu and 750 square meters of wonderful, completely renovated wooden floor invites everyone to dance! Dances in May-September, transportation from the Riihimäki travel center, which is located near our hotel.

Crystal grinder Juha Juselius

Art loans and themed dinners

In cooperation with Riihimäki-origin glass artisan and crystal grinder Juha Juselius, Teatterihotelli Riihimäki is involved in elevating the history of glass art in Riihimäki to its worthy status.

Juselius owns a comprehensive glass collection focusing on the crown jewel of Riihimäki Lasi Oy, i.e. hand-polished lead crystal. Carefully selected rarities from this significant private collection can be seen in the hotel’s changing miniature exhibition open to everyone and free of charge. Naturally, pieces of his own production are also included.

Juselius runs his own small-scale glass and crystal production in Riihimäki, and does other glass-related commissions. In Juselius’s family, the expertise in glassmaking has already been passed down to Juha in the fourth generation.

Glass artist Marja Hepo-aho

Art loans

Riihimäki-based glass artist and glassblower Marja Hepo-aho designs and manufactures magnificent Mafka products. Her timeless objects combine traditional glass working and modern design. Individual Mafka glass products are high-quality, mouth-blown functional art.

Her small series includes e.g. Vihma, Talvilasi, Vapaus and Jäähelmi, which represent timeless elegance – indeed classics from birth!

In cooperation with Marja Hepo-aho, Teatterihotelli Riihimäki is involved in elevating Riihimäki’s glass art to its worthy status. Our hotel has been honored to receive Hepo-aho’s unique 1000 kg Syli chair made of glass and gold in our lobby.

Syli (free transform in English: “Lap”) leaves no one cold. This unique glass chair invites you to sit down. Do you dare to try it?
