Sustainability is a core value for us – it is reflected in our everyday choices, actions, and service.

Social and economic sustainability

Teatterihotelli Riihimäki is a local small business operating hotel and restaurant services in the centre of Riihimäki. We employ local people both directly and indirectly through our partnerships. We prefer to work with local and Finnish small businesses that operate responsibly – supporting local employment and vitality in a sustainable way.

Sustainable energy use

We are also committed to responsible energy use. The hotel operates with renewable energy provided by Vattenfall. We have upgraded our lighting to be more energy-efficient and sort the majority of our waste. To save energy, we avoid unnecessary sauna heating and daily towel and linen changes during stayovers unless specifically requested by the guest. In our public areas, water-saving taps are widely in use to reduce unnecessary water consumption.

Sustainable procurement

Our procurement policy is guided by high-quality products and ingredients. We primarily purchase Finnish products across all departments and, whenever possible, use local service providers. Towels and linens are washed by our partner Comforta laundry, using Nordic Swan Ecolabel detergents. Nordic Swan Ecolabel means the products is evaluated to ensure it is a good environmental choice.

Sustainable work environment

A sustainable and safe work environment is at the heart of our operations. At Teatterihotelli Riihimäki, employees work in an open atmosphere where everyone has the chance to be heard, receive encouragement, and grow professionally. We also cooperate with local educational institutions and welcome students to learn about our field in practice.
